NFL preseason predictions

Here we are, the NFL regular season is sneaking up on us, and its gonna be an exciting year (besides this new kickoff rule which will hurt teams like the Chicago Bears.  Well, heres my predictions for division winner, wild card winners, and some of the individual awards.

1. New England Patriots (12-4)
2. New York Jets (10-6)
3. Miami Dolphins (6-10)
4. Buffalo Bills (5-11)

The Patriots look scary this year, and the Jets have also improved, but the Patriots just look good so far this preseason, and they might win more than the 12 I am giving them, but we will see .  Jets win one wild card slot

1.  Pittsburg Steelers (12-4)
2. Baltimore Ravens (11-5)
3.  Cleveland Browns (8-8)
4. Cincinnati Benglas (2-14)

Baltimore and Pittsburgh... one will win the division, the other is getting in the playoffs in the wild card slot, leaving the other two divisions that much more important to win
1. Indianopolis Colts (11-5)
2. Houston Texans (9-7)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-8)
4. Tennesee Titans (6-10)

Close division here, and these numbers are based on IF peyton is healthy all 16 games.   If he comes back week one, expect a slow start to the season for the colts, but its peyton, he finds a way to win.

1. San Diego Chargers (11-5)
2. Kansas City Chiefs (9-7)
3. Denver Broncos ( 6-10)
4. Oakland Raiders (5-11)

QB advantage here is San Diego,  and thats why i have them winning the division.

Wild Card Jets and Ravens.

1. Philadelphia Eagles (12-4)
2. New York Giants (9-7)
3. Dallas Cowboys (8-8)
4.  Washington Redskins (6-10)

sorry rex grossman, but the Eagles are gonna win this year.

1. Green Bay Packers (13-3)
2. Detroit Lions (10-6)
3. Chicago Bears (8-8)
4. Minnesota Vikings (6-10)

Packers if healthy will win this division running away, but the Lions (this is a heart pick, but i really see a 10 win season here) will have a good season, and make the playoffs

1. New Orleans Saints (11-5)
2. Atlanta Falcons (10-6)
3.Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7)
4. Carolina Panthers (4-12)

After a great season last year, everyone will be more prepared with Tampa Bay, but they will still have a decent year, but fall one game short of the playoffs.

1. St. Louis Rams (9-7)
2. Arizona Cardinals (7-9)
3. San Francisco 49ers ( 5-11)
4. Seattle Seahawks (4-12)

Weakest division in football, and once again, the only reason why St louis wins is cuz they have the best qb, and thats y the other 3 teams arent winning.  Ari has a good qb, but fall short, and SF and Sea are rebuilding teams.

Wild Card Atlanta and DETROIT!!!

heres some of the awards too

MVP Tom Brady

Rookie Offense: Mark Ingram NO

Rookie Defense: Jimmy Smith Bal

Comeback Player Matthew Stafford.

Offensive Player of year Tom Brady

Defensive Player of year Ndamukong Suh

Coach of the year:  no question here, if they do what I think they can do this year, you have to give it to Jim Schwartz

MLB predictions

Its here, the dog days of summer.  The last month and a half or so of the regular season of baseball.  Most of the divisions are in a tight race right now, and even awards like the cy young and MVP awards for both leagues are in tight races.. So heres my vote and prediction for the winners of each division, wild card, and MVP/ CY Young

Lets start with the senior circuit.. the national league

the current standings in each division are:

National League

Atlanta 8.5 GB

NYM 17.5 GB

WASH 19.5 GB

The East, well, just look at the standings, Philly, unless they have a huge letdown that I dont see happening, is going to win this division

St. Louis 3 GB

Pittsburgh 9.5 GB

Cincinatti 10 GB

ChiC  16 GB

Hou 27 GB

This division is probably the hardest to pick in the NL.  Even though the West race is closer, the Central has 2 teams that have the talent to run away with the division.   I think that St Louis will win the division, but it will be a fun race.

Ari .5 GB

Col 9 GB

SD  12. GB

The West, even though is closer, I dont think it will be a tight race towards the last few weeks.  Arizona is a young team, and I think the pressure of the late season will get to them, while San Francisco is the reigning MLB champs, and has a great pitching staff, and the addition of Carlos Beltran will help.

NL Wild card

Great team, they might be 8.5 games back of Philly, but they are 4.5 up in the Wild card, and I feel they have the pitching and hitting to get them in the playoffs.

This isnt who i think will win, this is who i would vote for if I had a vote this year.   My NL MVP is Lance Berkman of the Cardinals.  Pujols missed a few weeks with a injury earlier this year,  and Berkman kept the team in the hunt of things.

NL Cy Young-  Roy Halladay Philadelphia.   Easy pick, no pitcher in the NL has dominated like he has so far this year.

Now time for the American League.

NYY 1.5 GB

TB 11 GB

Tor 13 GB

Bal 26 GB

I am not a Yankees fan, so my heart picks Boston (actually, I would love to see Baltimore win this division, but  I pick Boston to win the division this year

Cle 4 GB

ChiW 5 GB

Minn 10.5 GB

KC 12.5 GB

What a crazy year in this division. Cleveland came running out of the gates on fire, great start, but they have cooled down since, and find themselves in second place.  I dont see them getting past Detroit, the Jimenez deal for Cleveland was a good move, but I think the Tigers will win it.

LAA 1.5 GB

Oak 13 GB

Sea 15 GB

Another fun race here, but Texas has too much depth EVERYWHERE on this team.  They win the division.

AL Wild Card

The yankees will win this, but they have alot of issues with some players right now, and they wont win the world series this year.

again, this is my vote, not what i say will happen, but who i say deserves.

Asdrubel Cabrera from Cleveland.  Someone from Boston will win it, but their lineup is stacked, and if one of them gets hurt, someone else will pick up the slack.

AL Cy Young...
Hardest pick of all the races, but I give it to my boy Justin Verlander.  3 games so far he has taken a no hitter into the 7th inning .   Every time he goes on the mound people watching the game expect something great.

my football team

Heres my fantasy football team that i just made... and a little thought on why i drafted each player

Tom Brady- New England
Matt Stafford- Detroit
Sam Bradford St Louis

Jahvid Best- DET
Joseph Adaii- Indianopolis
Mike Leshoure- Det

Calvin Johnson- Det
Larry Fitzgerald- Arizona
Deshawn Jackson- Philadelphia
Mike Williams- Seattle
Chad Ochocinco (or Johnson, who knows what his name is :P) Cincinnati (well, as of today)
Nate Burleson- Detroit
Titus Young- Det (BOISE STATE :P)

Brandon Pettigrew- Det

Mason Crosby- Green Bay

As you can tell, I have a fair share of Lions (6 if you include the defense)

But heres my thought on all 16 picks

Round 1.
Calvin Johnson

ESPN had him ranked like 20th or something, and I had the 7th pick, so it was a reach, but Calvin is a dynamic wide receiver, so I came into the draft planning on taking him in round 1

Round 2.
Larry Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was my 2nd pick for the 2nd round..  I wanted Andre Johnson of Houston, but the guy before me took him, and so I took Fitzgerald.  Not a bad backup plan, should have another good season.

Round 3.
Tom Brady

I was thinking running back this round, but I saw Brady on the board, and I had to take him.   Good O-Line, good running game, and good WR in NE, safe pick for a QB

Round 4.
Deshawn Jackson

He is a great return guy, great wideout, hes gonna give me good numbers this year.

Round 5.
Jahvid Best

Turf toe all of last year, but if he stays healthy, and Stafford stays healthy, he will have a good season for the Lions this year.

Round 6.
Matthew Stafford

Speaking of Stafford, some call this a reach, I think its the best pick of my draft.   Im in love with the guy, i will admit that, I think he is the real deal, I will start him a few games over Brady this year, we will see how everything goes with his shoulder, he stays healthy, I got a great pick here

Round 7
Brandon Pettigrew

3 picks in a row depend on Staffords shoulder.

With Calvin Johnson being the target of most defensive teams I really thing Pettigrew, and Young and Burleson will have better numbers than most expect.

Round 8.
Detroit Lions defense

Before you say "Why?"  the steelers, packers and bears were all off the board at the time of this pick.   and also Suh, Fairley, Avril, Vandenboesch.... are all on this defense... lots of sacks this season!! not a great secondary, but if we can get pressure on the QB, he wont have time to throw it

Round 9.
Joseph Adaii

This could turn out to be a solid pick.  With Manning not being able to start this camp on time, the running game will be CRUCIAL to the success of INDY this year, and alot of it will be on this man.
Round 10
Sam Bradford

I made this pick for 2 complete opposite reasons.

1. Stafford (thats 4 picks now cuz of 1 player, i know)
2. Trade Bait

If Stafford gets hurt, I still have  a solid backup, if he stays healthy, and lets say Michael Vick gets hurt, whoever owns Vick is gonna need  a QB, and I have that QB right there, and i could get a good player in return.
Round 11
Mike Leshoure
A risk taken late in the draft, so its not that bad of a risk.  He is a rookie, but he is a rookie who will get playing time on a good offense (look at them, they are good) so he will have a good first season i think

Round 12
Mason Crosby

Solid kicker, late round, good pick here, he will help me out

Round 13
Mike Williams

With Matt Hasselback leaving, this is a risky pick, but Pete Carrol is a coach that Mike Williams plays for very well, and I am hoping for the same, if he doesnt, 13th round pick, not a bad loss

Round 14
Chad Ochocinco

This pick is all hoping he gets traded, if he doesnt, terrible pick, Cincy has Andy Dalton as a QB, and he isnt ready to start

Round 15

Nate Burleson

#2 behind Calvin, defenses will be focused on Calvin, and Nate will get some points

Round 16

Titus Young

Last round, Lions 3rd Wideout, Same reasoning for picking Burleson
